ICAI's New Balm on FCCB's


The proceedings of the day started on a light note by YP Bhavna Surana. The first session was very well organized amongst themselves by the 3 speakers. The discussion began with YP Bhavna explaining the house basic concepts of FCCB’s, the benefits of FCCB to the issuer and the investor and related concepts. The speaker was very confident in her session. She introduced the next speaker on the topic YP Adarsh Nahata. YP Adarsh elucidated the house comprising of Chartered Accountants with the Accounting aspects of FCCB’s. The knowledgeable house was ready with there queries. The queries were very sincerely and technically answered by the speaker. YP Adarsh asked the next speaker to throw light on the residual aspects. YP Pragya threw light on the recent events which had hit the eyes of the corporate and business world. YP Pragya read out some impressive figures highlighting the size and impact of FCCB’s. The presentation illuminated up the mind of the house on various aspects of FCCB’s. This was followed by a Question and Answer session. YP Rahul Chowdhary and YP Sharad Mundra asked the speakers to clear their doubts on FCCB’s. Each of the doubts was categorically handled by the Speakers. The questions gave way to an open discussion on the topic by the House. YP Ashok had a very valid and technical doubt on discounting rate used and its impact in FCCB’s accounting. The doubt was brilliantly explained by YP Adarsh. The house was very impressed with the speakers. The speakers were praised for their hard work, well researched and prepared session. YP Rahul Chowdhary was right to describe this as one of the best sessions till date and acknowledged the good coordination of the speakers. YP Pragya was given a special praise for her strong and impressive voice, YP Adarsh for his quick and witty solution to queries and YP Bhavana for her vivid smile and ability to keep the house involved.

The technical session was followed up by YP Neha Dhanuka sharing with the house, her expertise on how to face the interview board. It was a very light session and YP Neha was ready with a very exclusive and detailed presentation. The house was joined by CA Vikash Baid. Mentor Vikash Baid gave his valuable inputs on the topic. He explained the right attitude, aptitude and approach for facing an interview. He was ready with practical examples and a list of Do’s and Donts’s. YP Neha was appreciated for her presentation and presentation skills.

Two group discussions followed up the technical sessions. The house was quite impressed with the level of discussions in the GD and the speed with which they had matured in GD’s. A special thank you note was given to Hitesh Jain for giving the house a framework on how to go about in a GD in the previous session.

The GD was followed by a review on the working of CYP. It was decided to have fresh elections for various committees including the Steering Committee.

YP Harsha Kothari was unanimously applauded and appreciated for her active participation and coordination of the activities of CYP. YP Neha Gupta and YP Priyanka Sureka were also appreciated for their consistency and their efforts in introducing new members to the Forum. Other CYP’s were asked to show a similar interest in the works of CYP and take a clue from YP Harsha Kothari. Present members were asked to do a follow up with absent members and request them to be more regular in the forum.

YP Rahul Chowdhary expressed the importance of finalizing a proper venue for forthcoming events. He shared his views and asked the house to make contributions if required for booking a venue on a weekly basis. The view received mixed reaction. But YP Rahul Chowdhary explained the importance of a venue and it was then finally agreed by the house.

The meet ended with a thank you note to all present.
